On to 2018

As you’re undoubtedly well aware, I took some time off from this newsletter while I thought through some elements of it. While I thought I had a format I liked (after a full year of experimentation), I honestly found it to be a bit too cumbersome to maintain on a regular basis. So as we head into 2018, I’ve decided to go back to the basics (while incorporating some learnings over the last year).
So, the plan is to get back to what the core of this newsletter has always been about: linking to interesting things from around the internet, with some commentary. And maybe the occasional image or GIF, of course. But I’m not going to break it up into sections, just keep it simple with the links. And keep it pretty informal with the writing. Like a conversation.
To that end, I’d like to try to up the cadence a bit. I obviously can’t promise daily updates (nor am I sure your inboxes would want such a thing), but far more frequent than every other week or even once a week. The high level thought I have is to gather what I take in throughout a day (or a few days) and distill some of it down in the evening – yes, around happy hour time (it’s currently happy hour in the UK, where I am writing this).
Longer-form stuff – a whopping 500-ish words – will still reside on 500ish Words. More pithy, timely stuff I’ll continue to tweet.
More to come in 2018. For now, some links I’ve saved over these past couple months – I have a big backlog as you might imagine. Thank you for reading and Happy New Year! 🎉🥂
