It’s Oscars week and I’m terribly behind. So behind, in fact, that there’s no way I’ll be able to see all of the films nominated for Best Picture before the show on Sunday. (This FOMO is exacerbated by the fact that I still haven’t seen Black Panther yet either. I know!)
Still, I like to make calls on such things. Last year, I was correct in thinking Moonlight would upstage La La Land – even if it took a truly surreal situation to make that happen. The year before that, I had an even better run (with predictions put on Anchor, a company in which we subsequently invested, no less)!
So, with the giant caveat that I’m largely going on instinct, my bet would be that Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri takes the Best Picture prize. I consider The Shape of Water to be the front-runner, but I actually think the real challengers may be the wild cards: Get Out and Lady Bird. And I think those two may cancel each other out, giving the prize to Three Billboards. We shall see.
For now, some movie-related links…

Unbelievably @mgsiegler called 100% of tonight's Oscars wins. I'm nearly as impressed with him as he is with himself https://t.co/QthQidhbCk
